Merry Wishes!

Happy Friday after Thanksgiving! Have any of you made it to the mall yet? Not me! I'm sticking close to the computer, stamp room, and to the TV today although DH suggested we play golf this afternoon since the weather is really nice for late November.

This is a Christmas card made for a sketch challenge, SFYTT, which was a good one to use for the first time playing. All the info is located on SCS regarding the details. This card was made for a friend who ordered the two posted yesterday. TFL.

Be Merry, Jessica!

A good friend of mine, who lives in NM, saw the picture of "Jessica" from Rubbernecker below and asked if I would make some Christmas cards using the same image. There's nothing like making a card using bling and some great looking dp to make something shine, so I told her, "Absolutely!" There are five different versions using the same image, sharing two of them here. Thanks for looking!
If you would like a recipe, please let me know.

Swirly Cuttlebug Snowman

It's a cool Saturday morning, which is perfect for creating cards in the "studio", which of course is the guest bedroom :-D The Christmas card shown today was made for two very special granddaughters living in Colorado. The colors are not your traditional Christmas colors, but since the holiday season is bright and festive, they'll work perfectly. The snowflakes are covered with glitter! They were punched, pressed into a glue pad, heat tool used to activate the glue, and glitter poured over; it's such an easy process to use if you enjoy using glitter on your projects. You're not limited to using only one color, such as the case when you buy individual stickers. If you haven't already invested in some Spellbinder dies, you're wasting too much time using other methods of measure cutting. I'm not good at measuring (this is where the smart DH comes in handy), so he's getting some time off, too :-) Back to business: The snowman die is from Cuttlebug; it comes with an embossing folder perfect for making individual ornaments (so many posssibilities.) The CB Divine Swirl was used for the body circles, which gives it some texture. I also painted some Shimmerz on the entire snowman, and green scallops to give it some shine (little girls love shine and bling, don't they?) Punches were used for the circles on the side and the Spellbinder long rectangle, standard and scallop, were used for the snowman frame.

Recipe:

Stamps: Sentiment, PTI Merry and Bright

Ink: Versafine onyx black

Paper: PTI white; textured cs; specialty Christmas cs, Me&My Big Ideas

Accessories: CB Snowman folder/die; scallop and circle punches (SU!); bling from Mike's; Stickles; Shimmerz (Angel Wings); lime green ribbon from a department store bag, pink grograin from the stash stack, and contrast green ribbon from the Papermart Co.

Happy Birthday, Liesel!

A couple of years ago, I worked as an administrative assistant for a casino in Blackhawk, CO. The first and last friend I made there is named Liesel; she's an engineer for a large construction company. We enjoyed taking breaks together, especially during the morning hours, while the air was crisp and while we risked breaking our necks walking across the street to the casino where all the good stuff was waiting. Our breaks normally lead us to the employee break room area where we indulged in homemake cookies, large ones I may add. Anyway, when I saw this stamp (there were bakers wearing similiar jackets, minus the yellow plaid), I immediately thought of the delicious cookies Liesel and I enjoyed in the mornings together and had to buy it. So this birthday card goes out to Liesel in celebration of the Big 40; congratulations, my sweet friend! By the way, Liesel and her husband are expecting their first baby in April and you can only imagine all the excitement in Colorado right now.
Recipe:
The jacket and cuffs were paper pieced. The entire image was painted with Shimmerz for a more festive effect. The birthday cake has Liquid Applique for the frosting (doesn't it look yummy?) There is doodling around the main image while the bg was made with a CB Happy Birthday folder. The skin was colored with a Prismacolor marker (peach) and blended for a healthy glow. The blender pen was also used on the birthday cake (have so much more to learn about shading, but I continue to strive for perfection :-)
Stamps: Viola (SU!)
Ink: Versafine onxy black
Technique: Paper piecing (jacket and cuffs)
Paper: White (PTI), black (SU!), and embossing paper bought several years back when I actually dried embossed with a stylus.
Accessories: Blender pen, SU! markers, Prismacolor (peach), Angel Wings Shimmerz, ribbon, dimensionals, oval punches (SU!), Liquid Applique, black fine tip marker for doodles.
